Need Gum Gone? Chewing gum removal is a very sticky situation, whether it is on your concrete, parking lot or the side of a building, gum eventually transforms into a dark smudge on your concrete. But before then, visitors and customers walking into a store or office will step on it and get it in all over your carpets, rugs and entryway mats. Then it is forced deep into the carpet fibers and into the porous surface of concrete, just waiting for another person to step in it again, to carry it somewhere else in your building.
We are proud to offer gum removal as one of our commercial pressure washing services in Irving TX. Find information about our methods below:
The best methods for removing gum from concrete depends on the gum’s age and level of penetration into the concrete surface. If the gum was left not long ago and it hasn’t penetrated the surface yet, we are sometimes able to remove it by covering it with ice until it freezes, then scraping it off with a metal putty knife.
The ice forces the chewing gum to freeze into a more forgiving substance compared to a warm and sticky glob. Once the gum is frozen, we slide a putty knife or scraper directly under the gum. Next we move the scraper very slowly beneath the gum and the entire piece should peel right off of the concrete.
The above process is only possible with gum that is brand new.
When we remove gum that has turned black, or is smashed deep down into the concrete, we use a hot water pressure washer with the heat dialed up to 200 Degrees in order to melt the chewing gum. For this type of gum removal, we do not use high pressure because that could ruin the surface of the concrete!
Our team never uses more pressure than necessary to safely clean commercial concrete. These surfaces can be damaged a lot easier than most people think, especially if they’re only a few years old. Concrete can take up to 100 years to cure. That is why we always use hot water and the least amount of pressure possible for our gum removal service.
To completely remove gum from sidewalks and other surfaces we use custom designed hot water power washing equipment and special soaps that enable us to effectively clean the concrete without leading to any damages.
Using special 200 degree hot water pressure washers and low pressure, we are able to safely remove chewing gum and dirt all while protecting the surface. Our process will also eliminate bacteria and viruses that can be found in gum.
By hiring Irving Pressure Washing for regular maintenance commercial cleaning at your location, your property will have better curb appeal and all gum removal issues will be over! You will also ensure less damage to carpets and other flooring while also making your storefront more welcoming to visitors.
